Seminar: 20 years anniversary of Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and Aquaculture
Time/Venue: Wednesday 19th August 2015 at 10:00 – 12:30, Meeting Room A4
The United Nations Food & Agriculture Organisation’s Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries is an internationally agreed set of global principles and standards of behaviour to guide responsible fisheries practices.
First steps towards the Code were in 1991 when the UN’s Committee on Fisheries called for the development of new concepts to lead to responsible, sustained fisheries. The Code was developed and then unanimously adopted in 1995 by the FAO Conference. Thus we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Code of Conduct this year, and mark the occasion by organizing a short seminar on the subject and especially on those aspects that relate to aquaculture.
